Criticism of Boston Police. Can you believe it !?!?
As I am sure that you know, Boston and it's citizens were victim to a terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon on Monday April 15 2013.
Two suspects left bombs in backpacks at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and detonated them as runners crossed the line.
An investigation began, and Boston Police did a great job in determining and identifying who the suspects were.
The suspect names were released and photos were distributed.
Without going into too many details, one suspect was killed and the second one was on the run.
Boston Police needed to shut down the city. They needed to contain the area that they knew the remaining suspect was in.
So, that's what they did. They, along with Gov. Deval Patrick, advised people to stay home, keep their homes secured, and businesses to remain closed. They didn't want taxis to be running, transit to be functioning.
They needed minimal amounts of traffic- pedestrian and vehicular, in order to track the other suspect. The more the movement, the more the opportunity for him to get lost in the shuffle and find a way to exit the city. After all, this was an extreme situation. A terrorist attack.
These suspects, if not arrested, could have just continued killing innocent people.
With the help of a citizen who observed some suspicious activity / circumstances with his boat, the second suspect was located and caught by Boston Police.
Now, you'd think that people would be pleased that Boston PD did everything they could to locate and arrest the suspect(s).
Well, apparently not. A former congressman, of 23 years, a Mr. Ron Paul is providing criticism of Boston Police. Basically stating that it was a military style takeover and the government should not have done what they did.
In other words, it doesn't matter that the suspects would be provided the opportunity and advantage to leave the city and surrounding area. Pushing the boundaries of the rights of citizens, in even a situation as extreme as this, should not be done.
Now, some people may agree with this guy. Others won't. But, what I think he fails to realise is that the public WANTED to help catch these guys. These suspects were clearly a danger to the public- radicals who BOMBED a public area at random.
Maybe Mr. Paul should consider that perhaps the people in Boston and the nearby suburbs wanted to assist in catching these assholes by doing the only thing that they could to help. Help shut down movement in the area by staying home and remaining closed as requested...
